
The Sulu State College Research Office officially opened the Research Summit 2025 with the theme “Sulu State College: Advancing Research Toward Global Sustainability” on November 13–14, 2025, at the SSC Center for Culture and Arts. The second day of the summit is scheduled to be held at the SSC Gymnasium.
The event began with welcoming remarks from Prof. Charisma S. Ututalum, CESE, who underscored the institution’s commitment to advancing a culture of research and innovation in alignment with global sustainability goals.
The summit was graced by Assoc. Prof. Rosalio G. Artes, Jr., MSc, from MSU-Tawi-Tawi College of Technology and Oceanography, as the guest speaker. In his morning session, he discussed the importance and significance of research, its influence on university rankings, its connection to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), and the value of Scopus-indexed publishing in enhancing institutional impact.
In the afternoon, Assoc. Prof. Artes will lead a session on “How to Do Research: The Challenge,” focusing on guiding the faculty and staff of Sulu State College in developing effective research practices and methodologies.
