
Sulu State College (SSC) has officially entered into a partnership with the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) held this October 2025. The collaboration aims to boost coconut production and support local coconut farmers through the Massive Coconut Planting Program (MCPP).
The agreement was signed by Prof. Charisma S. Ututalum, CESE, President of Sulu State College, and Dexter R. Buted, Administrator of the Philippine Coconut Authority. Present during the ceremony were Malikha J. Ilupa, Project Leader of Sulu State College, and Datu Manong U. Pendi, PCA Regional Manager III and other SSC College Officials.
Under the agreement, the PCA will allocate a total of ₱3,000,000.00 to Sulu State College for the implementation of the coconut planting program. The fund will cover the purchase of 31,578 quality coconut seedlings, farm tools, labor, delivery, and other necessary expenses for the establishment and maintenance of the nursery.
The project seeks to provide sustainable livelihood opportunities and increase productivity among coconut farmers in the region, in line with PCA’s mandate to promote the development of the coconut industry.
