Sulu State College recently underwent a three-day monitoring and evaluation activity on September 30 to October 2, 2025 as part of its journey toward universityhood. The evaluation was conducted by esteemed officials from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), namely Dr. Joe-an G. Cuaresma (Education Supervisor II), Engr. Janeny B. Domingsil (Education Supervisor), Dr. Clarissa C. Alvarez (Education Supervisor II), Dr. Vincent A. Regalado (Education Supervisor II), Mr. Conrad Fruibel A. Quilab (Education Supervisor II), and Ms. Raisa Agbayani.

The opening program, held on Day 1, was led by College President Prof. Charisma S. Ututalum, CESE, followed by the formal introduction of the evaluators by Engr. Janeny B. Domingsil. Immediately after, the evaluators commenced the assessment process, which was actively participated in by the Universityhood Team.

As part of the evaluation, the team conducted a comprehensive review covering critical areas such as enrollment, academic programs, faculty qualifications, research initiatives, learning resources, support structures, institutional linkages, outreach activities,support to students and other key areas. The evaluators also inspected facilities and infrastructure of the College, including its laboratories, to ensure alignment with universityhood requirements. The series of monitoring activities continued rigorously until Day 3.

During the closing program, the evaluators presented their initial findings. These preliminary results will undergo further validation and will be finalized within fifteen (15) calendar days. Once completed, CHED will determine whether Sulu State College is ready to proceed to the final stage of evaluation at the national level.
