Senate deliberations on the proposed conversion of Sulu State College into a state university continued as officials, led by Prof. Charisma S. Ututalum, CESE, attended the second hearing of House Bill No. 9334.

During the Senate Plenary Session on February 4, 2025, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano successfully sponsored the bill, which was approved on its second reading.

The proposed bill, under Committee Report No. 467, seeks to elevate Sulu State College into a state university, ensuring better access to higher education in the province.

The proposal now awaits its third and final reading, bringing Sulu one step closer to having its first state university.
