In pursuit of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), we recognize the transformative power of quality education in shaping a brighter future. SDG 4 Quality Education seeks to ensure inclusive, equitable, and quality education, fostering lifelong learning opportunities for all.
In line with this, the Nursing Student Council launched the Pre-Duty Preparedness Mentoring Program for Level I nursing students at the SSC School of Nursing Audio-Visual Room last January 30, 2025. This pioneering program aimed to equip the freshies with the essential pre-requisite knowledge regarding duty preparations.
The mentoring session commenced with a heartfelt mass prayer led by a Level I male representative, followed by an inspiring opening message from Moh. Jaafar A. Kali, Nursing Student Council Governor. Comprehensive discussions ensued, covering crucial topics:
-Proper RLE uniform and nursing kits
– Big notebook format and written requirements
– Hygiene and proper grooming
– Punctuality and courtesy observance
– An overview of blood pressure monitoring
Earnestly facilitated by Nursing Student Council members, the program also featured an interactive open forum where students posed questions to garner valuable insights. Participant feedback was also solicited to ensure the program’s effectiveness.
The Nursing Student Council extends its sincerest gratitude to the Dean, Asso. Prof. Alijandrina T. Jalilul, RN, MAN, EdD., for her unwavering support; to Ms. Jermalyn H. Amil, RN, MAN, NSA and Nursing Council Adviser, for her invaluable guidance; to the NSA officers for their tireless assistance; and to Ms. Monika Abraham of Level IV for her diligent help with documentation.
Finally, we would like to extend our respect and appreciation to our visionary college president, Prof. Charisma S. Ututalum, CESE, for her invaluable contribution in promoting quality education. Her dedication to empower the next generation of professionals have made a significant impact on us students. Thank you for your selfless commitment and service to the SSC community.
This mentoring program marked a significant milestone in our quest to empower the next generation of student nurses, fostering a culture of inclusivity, competence, and excellence.
To our level I nursing students, best wishes for your first duty exposure!
